I came across this accurate representation of What it's like playing a priest at Mischiefblog.
Multiply those bars by 8 and you have what it's like to be a raiding priest.
When I step foot into the Outlands, it will be as a shadow priest.

ehm... i think I'll follow the same path of you :)
I've passed through the portal and i've done a couple of quests. Easy and with wonderful gifts and money when you finish them but.... i'm a disc-holy priest, most of my guildmates are under lvl 50 and it's so slow to kill stuff just spamming smites.
So... Shadow is the answer. I guess that i can be shadow till my guildmates will be 60. I think that a shadow priest at lvl 70 will heal as (or better than) a lvl 60 disc-holy.
I don't doubt that a shadow priest would heal better than disc holy because the holy tree's focus is healing while the shadow tree is not.
Still give shadow a try if you haven't, its very powerful and if you have some decent healing gear you'll still be able to heal if you want to. Takes a little adjusting: harder on the mana, casting times a bit longer...but you can look at it as being challenged!
I meant to say "I DOUBT a shadow priest would heal better than disc-holy..."
